An In-depth Workshop on Human Resource Management in the Manufacturing Sector
On 21st January 2025, Auxilium College (Autonomous), Vellore, in collaboration with First Job Human Capital, hosted an insightful workshop titled “Human Resource: Roles, Challenges, and Opportunities in the Manufacturing Sector” as part of their Talent Nexa Project – Bridging Academia and Industrial Co-operation (BAIC). This workshop aimed to bring together the academic community, industry professionals, and students to discuss critical aspects of HR management in the manufacturing sector and the challenges it faces today.
The Day’s Schedule: A Detailed Overview
The event commenced at 1:00 PM, with guests and participants gathering at the Library Auditorium. The program started with a registration session, followed by an assembly in the auditorium where everyone settled in anticipation of the presentations.
Welcoming the Guests
The workshop officially kicked off with a warm welcome by the anchors, who greeted the distinguished guests and participants, setting a cordial and respectful tone for the event. The esteemed guests were then honored through the traditional Lighting of the Lamp, a symbolic gesture marking the beginning of the event.
Keynote & Special Guest Addresses
The Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. Beulah Suresh, Head of the Department of Business Administration at Auxilium College. In her speech, she expressed the significance of this event in fostering strong connections between academia and industry, especially in the domain of Human Resources in the manufacturing sector.
Following this, Mr. G. Nagarajan, Senior Manager of HR & Admin at Hunter Douglas, Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, delivered the Special Guest Address. Mr. Nagarajan shared valuable insights into the ever-evolving roles of HR professionals in the manufacturing industry, touching on both the challenges and the abundant opportunities that lie ahead.
BAIC Presentation
A session on the BAIC Concept (Bridging Academia and Industrial Co-operation) was presented by the First Job Team, explaining how academic institutions and industries can work together to bridge skill gaps and create employment-ready professionals. The session provided an in-depth look at how the Talent Nexa Project works towards closing the divide between what is taught in classrooms and what industries expect from employees in the field.
Workshops on Skill Development Programs
The afternoon sessions focused on several crucial initiatives aimed at developing and preparing students for the workforce:
- Global Job Readiness Program (GJRP):
Mr. Mathan Kumar, Head of Business Development at First Job Human Capital, shared the key aspects of this program, designed to enhance the job readiness of students. The session emphasized on building resumes, professional networking, and interview preparation. -
- National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS):
Mr. Ramesh A, Head of Operations at First Job Human Capital, took the stage to explain the importance of apprenticeship programs in enhancing employability. He highlighted how these schemes help bridge the skill gap and provide real-world training to students. -
- National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS):
Mr. Praveenkumar S, Regional Head at First Job Human Capital, concluded the session with an overview of NATS. He outlined the vital role these programs play in training and upskilling young professionals for better career opportunities. -

The event was followed by the National Anthem, marking a patriotic conclusion to the day.
